Create daily shifts that can be assigned to each day of the week in order to create a weekly work schedule.

A shift can be fixed (clocking in and clocking out occur at specific times) or flexible (people to whom it is assigned are not required to adhere to a precise time range, but must work a specific number of hours per day).

Create a fixed shift

Before getting started check that:

To create a fixed shift:

  1. Go to Company > Settings > Presence Management > Shifts and Schedules > Shifts.

  2. Click on Add.

  3. Select Fixed from the Shift type drop-down menu.

  4. Enter the start and end times of the shift.

  5. If applicable, add a Break, and set the start and end time.

  6. Choose two characters as the shift abbreviation (letters and numbers).

  7. Add a description of the shift.

  8. Set a shift code (optional).

  9. Click Save to confirm.

The shift has been created and is now visible in the list of daily shifts.

Create a flexible shift

Before getting started check that:

To create a flexible shift:

  1. Go to Company > Settings > Presence Management > Shifts and Schedules > Shifts.

  2. Click on Add.

  3. Select Flexible from the Shift type drop-down menu.

  4. Set the number of work hours that users to whom this shift will be assigned must complete.

  5. Choose two characters as the shift abbreviation (letters and numbers).

  6. Add a description of the shift.

  7. Set a shift code (optional).

  8. Click Save to confirm.

The shift has been created and is now visible in the list of daily shifts.

Users who are assigned a flexible shift must always record a timestamp at the beginning and end of any breaks they take, even if their shift only requires that they record a timestamp at the beginning and end of each workday.

The Abbreviation and Shift Code fields

📌 The Abbreviation is used by Fluida to show you the shifts within other features, such as Visual Planning. We recommend that you set one every time you create a shift, to make sure you already have it if you need it!

📌 The shift code was introduced in preparation for the expansion of the attendance export feature: it is currently optional.
