Customizing a user's clocking rules

Written by Fulvia Chesi

Administrators and Power Users can customize a person's clocking rules either when sending an invitation or at any time once the user is active.

Updating these rules is useful if they weren't assigned initially or if the company's clocking procedures have changed.

💡 If a change affects all employees, we recommend also updating the company clocking rules. This ensures the default settings are correct for all new users added from that point on, saving you from manual setup.

Customize and edit a user's clocking rules

Before you begin:

  • The clock-in clock-out feature must be active for your company.

  • You must have an Administrator or Power User profile.

Customize rules while inviting a new user

  1. Go to Company > Settings > Users.

  2. Select Add person.

  3. Fill in the required fields.

  4. Select Advanced options under the Attendance management section to view more settings, including clocking rules.

  5. Go to the Timestamp section and customize the rules using the dropdown menus.

💡 Read this article to learn how to choose the right clocking rules.

  6. Select Add to send the invitation.

Once the user accepts the invitation, they can start tracking their presence based on their personalized requirements.

Edit rules for an active user

  1. Go to Company > Settings > Users.

  2. Select the user whose rules you want to change.

  3. Expand the Timestamp section and select your preferred options from the dropdown menus.

💡 Read this article to learn how to choose the right clocking rules.

  4. Save to confirm.

The user's clocking rules have been updated.

💡 Within the user's settings, you can also select Authorized locations and, if the remote clocking mode is set to Enabled areas only (GPS), you can configure their Personal areas.

Troubleshooting

I can't set the remote clocking mode for a user

If the Remote option does not appear in the Timestamp settings, check the Attendance management section to ensure that Remote work is enabled for that user.
